  • Luke Tschida, Assistant Coach

After a distinguished ski jumping career that saw him competing all over the United States, Luke has turned his attention to coaching our junior jumpers.

Ski jumping is an incredible sport, and the community is so supportive. I started jumping when I was a young kid. I’m really happy that I stuck with it, as the sport has taught me many valuable skills, most importantly how to overcome challenges and fears. Heading out to the jump definitely sparks the nerves and gets the blood pumping, which I really enjoy now!

I think that anyone can ski jump. And it’s a great way to get outside during winter. I’m happy to share my experience and expertise, and watching the kids gain confidence is a big plus!

  • Nick Johnson, Assistant Coach

My passion for the sport was fostered by some of the current coaches Tony Geye, Chris Broz, Tom Brisson, and the late Jack Broz. I joined the club in 1997. I was not a gifted jumper, but with the right mentors in my corner I competed in two junior nationals, dozens of FIS cups and continental cups across the USA, Canada, and Europe. I also spent summers training with the national team in Park City, UT, Lake Placid, NY, and one summer traveling with the Polish ski team based out of Zakopane, Poland.

I was 8th in the nation leading up to the 2010 Olympics and started coaching when I was still an avid ski jumper myself. I love everything about the sport and the Minneapolis Ski Club. It gave me the confidence to reach for more in life.
